What You Seek is Seeking You

Where Peace Comes From

“To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one’s family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one’s own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him.”

The Buddha

Peace and Happiness are among the most elusive of all of the pursuits of mankind. It seems for many that the more they pursue Peace the more it eludes them and the more unhappy they become. This is because they have not learned that Peace cannot be pursued, it can only be found in BEING, not in DOING!

“Be still and KNOW that I AM God” – This famous quote from the Psalms of the bible, Psalms 46:10, contains a much deeper message than most attribute to it. In these mere eight words are one of the most profound secrets in ALL of the teachings on Enlightenment that have ever been taught. Be Still… Be Still and KNOW… Be still and KNOW that I AM… Be Still and KNOW that I AM God…

It is in the stillness that One learns to quiet the “monkey mind”, the ego, the imaginary friend and foe that never shuts up. Why do so many have difficulty doing this? It is because they are NEVER still long enough. They must always be doing something, thinking about something, planning something, plotting something or recalling something from the past.

The ONLY thing that You have is RIGHT NOW! This very moment as you are reading these words is ALL you have, it is all that is REAL. Everything else is either behind you or ahead of you and you can do nothing to change either by DOING. If you wish your future to be different you must change your present and you do that by changing the way you think. You cannot change the way you think until you shut the ego up!

Meditation is different for everyone. Some people do better with music and some without. For me the best is to be in a place of silence or in nature with only natural sounds such as birds or a moving stream or creek or maybe the sounds of gentle waves collapsing on the shore. To find Peace it is essential that you take the time to learn to mediate, to be still, to shut the internal dialogue off and listen until you hear the voice from within that says to you, “Be still and KNOW that I AM God”

Be Still and KNOW
