On Us vs Them

Mitakuye’ Oyasin – All My Relations

In Lak’ech Ala K’in – I AM another Your Self

Do you ever wonder why I sometimes sign off with these salutations as I have for many years now?

I utilize these ancient salutations from the Sioux and Maya respectively to attempt to call attention to the fact that we are all interconnected, we are all one and we are here to remember that we are. One of the very first things that happens to you when you reach that higher level of consciousness that so many are seeking is ONENESS… All at once you feel at one with The Universe and with everything in it. At the same time everything matters, and nothing matters at all. IF you are truly blessed you reach a state of total bliss of being that The Buddha called Nibbana, it is difficult to even put the feeling into words. Heaven on Earth, the Peace that surpasses all understanding, the ability to BE at peace no matter what is happening around you in this natural world.

Even The One known as Jesus the Christ warned against division when His own disciples began trying to exclude others who had begun to go out on their own doing good and healing people because they were not walking with Jesus and his followers, he told them that if the people were doing good what did it matter. Why can today’s Christians not understand this? Why do they call themselves “Christian” and yet refuse to walk the walk that their Christ called them to walk? This is what led Gandhi to say of them, “Your Christ I like, your christians I do not, for they are nothing like your Christ.”

It is separatism and denominationalism that has caused more killing and suffering than any other thing on this planet during this present incarnation of humans. Wars in the name of religion, persecuting and murdering others because they do not believe in the same way. I myself have ZERO tolerance for this kind of thinking and will not entertain it, in recent days one like this was attempting to debate me on the matter and I immediately recognized his hatred while he was professing his “love of Christ”.

The Path to Oneness, to Consciousness, Enlightenment, Salvation, whatever and however you wish to label it starts from many paths that eventually lead to THE ONE path. It is like a tree with many branches that lead back to the trunk of the tree, back to the source from which they came. Likewise, we all eventually find our own way back to The Source from which we all come, regardless of how our path may appear to others, we all have our own lessons to learn and must find our own way back.

Religion can be a tool that helps point one to enlightenment, or it can be a sharp stick that pokes out the eyes and blinds one from seeing the truth, it is up to the beholder. IF one can realize that ALL religion is simply the recorded attempts of humans to keep a record of PAST words of wisdom and to learn from them then it can help to lead one towards the BEGINNING of the path to awakening. The problem is that far too many worship the messenger and DO NOT heed nor understand what HE came to teach, nor do they follow the way He taught. Why is this? Because it is easy to SAY that you follow, it is much harder to do.

It is human nature to want to take the easy way out, to pick and choose the words they wish to follow and to also use them to suit their own needs and to exclude others and denigrate others to make themselves “appear” better. Let’s take a look at some of the words of Jesus as an example of what I mean:

“Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Matthew 10:37

In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples. Luke 14:32-34

“One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:28-29

I could go on an on, but these will suffice for now. What was meant by these words? What IS meant by these words? WHY do so few actually follow them?

In the first example what is being said is that one must place their walk, their seeking of the “kingdom”, of being at one with The Creator above everyone and everything. The reason so many miss what is being said is because they have no Spiritual discernment. One must remember that it was in most cases The Spirit speaking THROUGH Jesus that was making these exhortations, which is why even His own mother and brothers at times thought He was crazy. Imagine your child saying, “Before Abraham was, I AM”. Again, it was The Spirit of God making the statement, NOT the man.

Okay, let’s look at the second example. He says that if you are unwilling to give up EVERYTHING that you cannot be His disciple. Why do you suppose he said this? The reason is because of attachment. Whatever you are attached to you have a fear of losing and fear of loss is one of the main things that keep people from knowing enlightenment. This is why He told the rich young ruler to sell all he had if he wanted to follow Him. Are you so attached to your “things” that you would give up Eternal Consciousness, the Eternal Life promised just to hold on to your trinkets?

In the third example he says to love your neighbor as yourself, and yet how often do we see this today, especially in the way that he describes being neighborly! We are to love even our “enemies”, to turn the other cheek, to forgive seven times seven… How many can do this? I tell you it is impossible for humans, it is only possible after becoming CONSCIOUS, after becoming enlightened, receiving The Spirit, however you want to describe it.

We are ALL here to remember ONENESS. Once we have attained that place of Oneness, enlightenment, we are not to place ourselves more highly than another but we are to show them the way by the way WE carry on our lives. The fastest way to cause another to stumble in their walk is to show hypocrisy. While we all may have our moments where we become impatient with others who may mistreat us or persecute us overall our lives should be demonstrations of who and what we have become and are becoming.

There is no “us vs them” there is only Oneness and when the world realizes this then wars will cease and all of the striving and fighting over differences in religious interpretations will cease as well.

“The earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.”
