What IS Love?

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Cor. 13:4-8Image

In this day and age it seems that no one knows what love is, or at least that is what is evidenced by the way people treat one another. Even those who profess to love each other seem to have little care for the object of their affection and will abandon them at the smallest sign of trouble. Can this truly be called love?

Brothers and Sisters, KNOW this, my words are NOT intended for the masses. I KNOW there are many who will never have an understanding of what I am trying to share, my intention is to remind those who SHOULD know of who THEY are and HOW they ought to live as a result of that knowledge. Those who ARE of the Spirit should not need to be instructed by one outside themselves, but for those who are just beginning to learn to hear that Inner Voice, or for those who have allowed the things of the world to dull their hearing, I hope that my words help to reopen the lines of communication for you.

When I speak of “Love”, I speak of True Love, Agape Love, which in my estimation is the ONLY Love worth speaking of, as the lesser romantic version of love is fickle at best. Agape Love is defined as “selfless love of one person for another without sexual implications” (especially love that is spiritual in nature). This kind of love is IMPOSSIBLE without the presence of The Spirit. Humans are inherently selfish, the more spoiled one was a a child, the more selfish he or she will be as an adult. The ONLY way to KNOW Agape Love is to be selfless, to put others above ourselves, and to embrace The Spirit.

As I have visited many Christian Churches I have heard pastors and preachers teach about love and relationships and yet hardly ever do I hear them teach that WE are capable of this all encompassing love. Most indicate that it is ONLY possible for God to love in this way but the fact of the matter is that WE are ALL One, we have simply forgotten, and since we are One with God then we have the ability to love as He loves once we remember and connect with Our Own Divinity within. To accept any less is to live a miserable life in my opinion, even though this deep level of love comes with pain due to the inability of many to reciprocate, it allows one to feel as The Creator feels. Agape Love requires strength and courage to live it, but it is well worth the cost to experience the intensity of True Love for all things.

When you are able to love another in this way you will not become easily agitated at them for their shortcomings as you see them, you will love them in spite of their faults and will begin to see that these little idiosyncrasies are what make them unique and special. EVERYONE is at a different level of Spiritual Growth and Evolution, this is why we were admonished NOT to judge ANYONE. Everyday I see others judge people for things that they themselves have been guilty of doing in the past as if they have lost their memory of their own past transgressions. In our own individual Spiritual Evolution there is very little that we have not done, this is EXACTLY why we are not to judge nor condemn another for their actions. It simply isn’t our job.

Today is Valentine’s Day, a day when millions of people will profess their love to each other. The question is, is it REALLY Love or just infatuation? Would you lay down your life for the person you are professing your love for? Would you deny yourself and your own needs to care for them? Or do you ONLY love them as long as they give you what YOU need? I feel today is a good day for everyone to reflect on this and make a decision to love in the way The Creator intended, anything less is unworthy of YOU.

Love Each Other,

Storm Wolf
